Why AFCOT?Founded in 1890, the aim of the French Cotton Association, AFCOT, is to promote and defend the interests of professionals in the cotton sector. How does it do this? - BY ENCOURAGING discussion with specialists in the sector and with all other cotton associations and all the professions either directly or indirectly involved with cotton.
• With this in mind, AFCOT has developed the ECR and cooperation among its varied network of international players. • AFCOT defends an open-minded concept of its remit, favouring no single approach, school of thought or specific concept. •On the contrary AFCOT sees itself as a meeting-place for specific debatesopen to free discussion. •And so AFCOT is especially developing relations with the other associations, within the CICCA “Committee for International Cooperation between Cotton Associations” or the European Cotton Confederation (ECC). • AFCOT also contributes to an open approach of the ECR to international trends. As a member of the ECC (European Cotton Confederation), the AFCOT develops cooperation between the European associations. This cooperation also aims at improving the ECR/RGE by collaboration and the harmonisation of trading rules. • AFCOT also organises a professional dinner every year. This dinner now includes seminars and talks on thematic subjects covering the entire cotton scene (ECR seminar, position of the cotton market, forward markets, etc.). |
